HOW TO POST CONSISTENTLY WHEN YOU ARE BUSY

To grow and succeed on social media, quality and consistency are key.

But it’s hard when creating and posting content isn’t your full time gig.

I get it. I am right there with you.

As tough as it is, it still needs to get done. So we have to be more efficient.

Here are 5 things to consider.

1. Create a content skeleton

Start with content themes that best serve your audience and support your strategy.

For me, it’s branding tips, productivity tips, nuggets of wisdom and personal posts.

Next, choose which days to share certain types of posts. For example, I share my wisdom posts on Fridays and call it “Food for Thought Fridays.”

2. Create an editorial calendar

Plan ahead for your content. Think monthly or at least weekly. NOT DAILY.

It will save you time and energy, and force you to think strategically.

By the time a new month or week rolls in, you should know exactly what you’re going to post daily.

3. Create content in batch and build a content library

If you wait to create each piece of content on the day it is due, you’re not going to post consistently. But you already know that. Don’t you?

Use your weekends to create all your content for the upcoming week.

Save all your content in Google Drive or DropBox.

4. Create an inverted funnel for your content (Thanks GaryVee)

Start with a long form piece of content (i.e., a long video, going live, a blog post or podcast).

Then create smaller pieces of content from that master-piece of content: short clips, quotes, carousels, GIFs, etc.

Ultimately, the more decisions you make on the front end, the more manageable your days will become.

5. Build Templates

First, choose two colors (primary and secondary) and two typefaces (title and body) and stick to those.

Next, create templates for recurring post types.

If you’re using quotes, for example, create a few templates so all you have to do is insert the words.
